\It’s no secret that The Island by Wasl is one of the most sought-after projects in Dubai. And it so happens that it is currently under construction and once complete, it’s going to be the newest hotspot in the Emirate. It will certainly become the Las Vegas of the Middle East, as it will feature some brilliant hotels from the city itself. Yes, and it seems that MGM, Bellagio, and Aria might be making their way to Dubai as well.

According to a recent report by Meed, it was mentioned that the China State Construction Engineering Corporation, which is based in Beijing, has won the contract for The Island project in Dubai. With an estimate of AED4.4 billion, the developer, Wasl has awarded this contract. It is a significant moment, as it’s the largest construction deal that has been signed in Dubai ever since the contract for building One Zabeel.

At this point, it’s worth mentioning that the hotels will be located on The Island, which will be spread across 10.5 hectares. Not to mention, it is also expected that renowned hotel brands, such as the MGM, Bellagio, and Aria hotels might also come up here. It’s worth noting that this megaproject will feature the building of 1,400 hotel rooms!

As it happens, this destination will be set off the coast of the Umm Suqeim will be neighbouring the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Marsa al-Arab. Not to mention, according to a report by MEP Middle East, the project also promises an array of features! However, it should be noted that there are still speculations going on about the potential gambling facilities if the UAE legalises it.

Dining, Retail, Hotel Rooms & More To Be Built Here

As mentioned previously, it is expected that 1,400 hotel rooms and apartments will be built, along with an array of dining, retail, and entertainment options here. As such, earthworks will be overseen by APCC Overseas while the Buro Kling Architectural Engineering Consultants from Germany will be serving as the main and the structural consultants.

Finally, it should be noted that the China State Construction Engineering Corporation recently also secured an AED886 million main works contract for the Damac Properties’ 71-storey Cavalli Tower. Not to mention, the firm also extended its portfolio in the region through the W-Residences project, which was awarded by the luxury real estate developer, DarGlobal.

We can only imagine how grand it’s going to be once the construction is complete!
