Taking street food to a new level and giving idli a new twist, Mumbai’s Avantika Chennai Cafe introduced something new, Dunki Burger Idli. It is a blend of idli and spicy potato stuffing prepared like a burger. Let’s take a look at what foodies think about it.
Dunki Burger Idli Is A New Food Trend For All The SRKians

This is a new food trend introduced at the Avantika Chennai Cafe in Mahavir Nagar, Kandivali West. The eatery launched Dunki burger idli recently, just a couple of weeks before the major release of Dunki starring Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, and Vicky Kaushal. What is this new dish all about and how does it taste? Let’s take a look at its preparation.
The vendor starts by preparing a filling to stuff inside the burger with idli as the buns. For the stuffing, he added tomatoes, coriander leaves, potatoes, cabbage, and boiled potatoes. To the veggies, he added some desi powdered spices, some sauces, mayonnaise, and green chutney and gave everything a nice mix. He used a masher to mix the ingredients in the pan. Once the stuffing was ready, he took a bigger-sized idli and cut it into half horizontally. These looked like the buns of a burger. In the next step, he added green chutney, coconut chutney, grated cheese, cooked veggie mixture, mayonnaise, and grated carrots to the idli halves. Lastly, he served the Dunki burger idli on a plate with bowls of sambar, coconut chutney, and green chutney.
This is a weird fusion of South Indian cuisine’s most famous idli and Mumbai’s famous sandwich filling. Well, what do you think?

Shared just 2 days back, the viral video has already over 476K views with more than 8.3K views and lots of reactions and comments. Neither most foodies are loving the sandwich between idli and burger nor they are finding or understanding the connection between making burger idli and Shah Rukh Khan’s next movie, Dunki.
An Instagrammer commented, “๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐idli successfully ruined ๐”. A comment read, “Leave idli alone”. “Shahrukh kaha se aagya isme uske fan Ho try karna hi padega Kuch bhu๐”, someone wrote. Another comment read, “My South Indian heart ๐ฅฒ๐!!(he said badi idli instead of tatte idli๐ญ๐ญ๐๐)”. A Netizen commented, “pls South Indian mat bolo. This is not South Indian brother”. The next comment read, “Hey bhagwan ye kya dekhna pad raha haiโฆ๐๐๐”.
On the other hand, only some Netizens shared their interest in trying the Dunki idli burger. A Netizen commented, “Omg jana padega๐”.
