Lately, a lot of expressways are coming up in the country. India is gearing up for better and more convenient road travel and it is very evident. Just recently, India inaugurated its longest expressway project, the Delhi-Mumbai expressway. Now, the National Highway Authority of India or NHAI is getting ready to open the Dwarka expressway. From completion status and estimated opening date to cost of construction, here are all the details you need to know about this new roadway project.

Dwarka Expressway: Route & Completion Status

This particular roadway project will connect the national capital of the country to Gurugram in Haryana. After its completion, the expressway is said to significantly reduce the time it takes to travel between the two points.

Also known as the Northern Peripheral road or National Highway 248-BB his project, once completed, will be 29 kilometres long. As of now, the expressway is about 95 per cent completed.

What is more, the corridor will be for high-speed vehicles and will have controlled access. This means that slow-moving vehicles will probably be disallowed from using the expressway. This is done in order to enable smoother and faster travel.

Once completed, it will facilitate connectivity and smoother travel to those heading towards IIT Delhi, Mehrauli, Munirka, Mahipalpur, Vasant Kunj, and more.

Estimated Date Of Completion & Cost Of Construction

Since the road is already close to completion, it is estimated that the expressway will be completed very soon. In fact, it will be thrown open for public use around next month, which is April.

According to the officials at the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways or MoRTH, it cost the government a whopping ₹9,000 crores to build. The officials also mentioned that the Dwarka expressway will be the country’s first elevated urban motorway.

It is said to connect areas like Mehrauli, Mahipalpur, Munirka, IIT Delhi, Vasant Kunj, terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport, and many other areas within south Delhi.
