On January 15, an Emirates flight EK703, which was supposed to fly from Dubai to Mauritius was delayed. As it happens, the delay was over 20 hours and the reason behind this massive delay has been attributed to the tropical cyclone, Belal. As a result, the flight is now expected to depart from the UAE on January 16.

Emirates Cancels & Delays Flights To & From Mauritius

Due to the tropical cyclone, Belal, Emirates has announced flight cancellations and delays to and from Mauritius. Yes, in a report by Khaleej Times, it was revealed that the flight, EK703, was delayed by 27 hours. This means, now it will depart on January 16, which is today at 1:30 PM UAE time. Moreover, the flight will arrive in Mauritius at 8 PM.
While the flight, which was supposed to fly from Mauritius to Dubai on January 15 has also been delayed by 21 hours.

This means, the flight will now be departing from Mauritius at 8 PM on January 16, local time and will arrive in Dubai on January 17 at 2:35 AM, UAE time. Besides this, the Dubai-based international airline also announced cancellations of two flights, EK701, which was supposed to fly from Dubai to Mauritius and EK702 which was supposed to fly from Mauritius to Dubai on January 16.

What Is Belal, The Tropical Cyclone?

At this point, it’s worth mentioning that Belal is a tropical cyclone that hit the French Island of Reunion on January 15. It is expected to even affect Mauritius! Yes, and so it has been put on high alert as the storm makes its way through the Southwestern Indian Ocean. As a result, flights have been affected! In fact, the airline has urged affected customers to contact their travel agents for alternative travel arrangements. While those who have booked from the Emirates directly, can contact the legal office for the booking options.
