Expect Smooth Commute On Ras Al Khor Road As Dubai RTA Opens 1st Phase Of Project To Ease Traffic

Dubai is a growing city. The population here keeps boosting with tourists, investors, expats coming in. With the increased number of people comes more traffic. And traffic in Dubai is inescapable. So to reduce such issues, Dubai Roads & Transport Authority took an initiative called Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Improvement Corridor Project. The project’s first phase has opened up which will ease the traffic congestion in Dubai.

Ras Al Khor Roads Expanded To Reduce Traffic

The project involves extending the routes of the Ras Al Khor area in Dubai. The 3 existing lanes will expand to 4 as a part of this new project. The route will run from Ras Al Khor Road’s intersection with Dubai-Al Ain Road (Bu Kadra intersection) to Ras Al Khor Road’s intersection with Nad Al Hamar Road.

The overall expansion for this project will spread out over 4 kilometres. All bridges will connect to Dubai Creek Harbour which in turn will expand 1,730 metres. The initiative will surge to a holding capacity of 10,600 vehicles per hour.

RTA’s Biggest Project In Dubai

The Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Improvement Corridor Project involves two phases. The overall project involves the expansion of 10 km in total. The Ras Al Khor would be extended upto 8 km and expect the Dubai Al Ain Road to expand by 2 km.

The current travel time inclusive of traffic is approximately 20 mins. After the completion of both phases, the time would drop down to 7 mins. So now you can be prepared to avoid the overlapped traffic congestion in the mentioned area.

The development of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Crossing, which spans Dubai Creek and connects Al Jadaf in Bur Dubai with the road dividing Dubai Creek Project and Dubai Festival City, would be included in the project’s future scope.

The second phase would be soon launched after the successful completion.
