Following Tragic Train Accident, Govt Advises Airlines To Check Price Surge On Odisha Flights

On 2 June, a scary train accident between the Kolkata-Chennai Coromandel Express and the SMVT Bengaluru–Howrah SF Express and a goods train happened in Odisha’s Balasore. Many trains between Chennai, Kolkata, and more states have been cancelled because of the tragic train collisions. Passengers who are in urgent need of reaching their destinations are opting for flights. The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) recently issued a statement asking airlines to check the ticket prices for flights to airports in Odisha.

We all are aware of the surge in ticket prices in recent times. The fare to even the nearest airports is skyrocketing. With the cancellation of trains, it is obvious that the demand for flight tickets to and from various Odisha airports will surely increase. At such a time, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) asked all the airlines to take a proper look at the flight tickets for the airports in the state. Also, they asked to take steps if they notice any huge rise in ticket costs.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation also mentioned in the advisory that the airlines should assist the passengers at the airports in Odisha to cancel or reschedule their flights and not charge any extra cost. This guideline of no penal charges is only applicable to those who have been impacted due to the tragic accident. The official statement also urged all these airlines to help the passengers who are flying to bring the remains of the ones who lost their lives.

Following The Train Accident, There Was A Bus Accident Too!

A bus was carrying the injured survivors of the train accident from Balasore to West Bengal. In the middle of the road journey, the bus met an accident with a pickup van in the Medinipur district of West Bengal. Many suffered injuries in this accident. Drivers of the bus and the van and the passengers were rushed to nearby medical places for treatment.
