Drinks form a huge part of India’s party culture. Be it parties, low-key celebrations or weddings, drinks are always on the table. Come on, without them, would the parties even be fun? But do you know how Indians’ consumption of liqueurs is changing? We won’t say drastically, but yes, consumers are now experimenting with new brands and flavours. The third edition of What India Is Drinking, a report by 30 Best Bars India, is finally out, and we can’t wait to share what makes Indian drinking preferences stand out this year!

India And Its Liqueur Preferences

The latest What India Is Drinking report by 30 Best Bars India highlights key shifts in culture. Compared to last year’s 2024 report, Indian consumers and bartenders are working with a wider global palate. Instead of sticking to classics, they are open to niche formats and more experiential drinks, and that too confidently.

30 Best Bars India has revealed a list of the top 10 liqueurs and spirits ruling consumers this year. And this report reveals how the Indian bar scene is actively evolving. Many consumers now focus on innovation and unique flavours. But yes, three names have stayed constant. The insights were collected from 125 of India’s top bars across 17 cities.

Just like in 2024, Jägermeister continues to lead by a wide margin. This drink, tied to the vibrant youth culture of the country, has a distinct flavour profile which makes it stand out, and it retains its top spot again this year. Baileys Irish Cream has also kept its second position, like in 2024, and we are not surprised. You can never go wrong with Baileys. It has gained visibility through its versatile use, and this sweet liqueur appeals a lot to the urban population. It works in cocktails, as a coffee mixer and in indulgent desserts too.

Indians Now Prefer Home-Grown Brands, Too!

The What India Is Drinking report of 2025 also reflects Kahlúa holding the third spot. This means one thing: India may experiment, but the love for these three classics remains. Yet, this year’s list shows clear shifts. France’s Cointreau, Japan’s Choya Umeshu, Peru’s Tabernero Pisco, Italy’s Luxardo and South Africa’s Amarula have enticed Indian taste buds. Consumers are choosing them over older favourites like Campari, Aperol and Limoncello, which were in demand last year.

There is a special entry too. Apart from global names, Indian brands have made a meaningful jump. Quaffine, a homegrown coffee liqueur which ranked ninth last year, has now moved up to sixth. Made from 100% Indian Arabica beans, this liqueur offers a strong coffee flavour without much sweetness. This is why many bartenders prefer it for espresso martinis in bars and cafes. From cocktails to shots to desserts, it is a versatile drink used in countless ways.

In the What India Is Drinking report, one Indian-origin liquor has surprised everyone: Cazulo Feni from Goa. This high-quality spirit from the coastal state is winning hearts this year. Aged for a year in glass garrafoes, it develops a rich, authentic taste. Available in coconut and cashew flavours, it shows how feni reflects deep-rooted Goan culture.
