A foreign vlogger couple was allegedly sexually harassment in Kerala recently. The couple attended the iconic Thrissur Pooram festivities in the city when they were inappropriately touched and sexually harassed. They took to Instagram to talk about their “worst moments” during Thrissur Pooram 2024 as they faced instances of groping and forceful kissing there.
Foreign Vlogger Couple Allege Sexual Harassment During Thrissur Pooram
Vlogger Couple Mackenzie and Keenan have been travelling across Kerala for the last few weeks. They even attended the iconic Thrissur Pooram there recently. While they had lots of happy and memorable moments during this celebration, they also allegedly faced sexual harassment. In a video titled “Thrissur Pooram 2024 Worst Moments” on their Instagram account, UNSTUK with Mac & Keen, they talked about groping and forceful kissing attempts while they attended the festivities.
In the video, you can see a man trying to forcefully hug and kiss Mackenzie. She looked quite uncomfortable and rushed away to diffuse his attempt. This is followed by another instance where Keenan mentions how a man in his 50s tried to grope and sexually assault him. He mentioned how the man ran away when he pushed his forceful hands away.
Police Says No Complaint Received In This Regard
At the start of the video, the couple is seen saying, “We had a wonderful time at Thrissur Pooram, but there were also some questionable moments…” that later showed these incidents of inappropriate behaviour. The couple tried to laugh it off by saying “People are getting frisky,” during the festivities. However, this discomfort is very apparent in the video.
Meanwhile, the Kerala Police has mentioned that they did not receive any complaint from the couple in this case. However, they mentioned that they had been able to identify the accused man in the video.
This is disturbing and saddening on so many levels. Being part of a crowded celebration doesn’t give anyone a free pass to misbehave with anyone. Furthermore, it is, as citizens of this nation, our responsibility to make foreigners feel welcome and safe when they travel to India. Such behaviour should be reported and severe actions should be taken against the accused.
