Chef Vikas Khanna is serving some of the most famous desserts from iconic eateries in India at his New York restaurant, Bungalow. He is starting with ‘Stick Jaws’ from the iconic Ellora’s Bakery of Dehradun. According to his Instagram post, he also plans to serve Sohan Halwa, inspired by Delhi’s Ghantewala Halwai and Mysore Pak as an ode to Guru Sweets from Mysore.

Chef Vikas Khanna’s Bungalow is known for hosting some of the biggest Hollywood and Bollywood stars and dazzling foodies with its amazing food. This New York restaurant is always in the spotlight for celebrating the flavours of India and this time, the famous chef has taken it up a notch by adding a touch of nostalgia and memories to his menu and recreating some of the most iconic Indian desserts, inspired by famous Indian eateries.

Chef Vikas Khanna Celebrates Iconic Indian Eateries At Bungalow

Vikas Khanna’s Bungalow is a celebration of India and the Michelin-starred chef has always celebrated the foods, flavours, and treats of the country at his New York restaurant. Now, he is on a journey to introduce these flavours to the world, especially to the second and third-generation children growing up in the West.

For this, he is serving “not just meals, but memories.” According to his recent Instagram post, he will be recreating and serving famous desserts that have been inspired by some of the most famous eateries across India. Chef Vikas Khanna’s nostalgic train starts with ‘Stick Jaws” inspired by the iconic Ellora’s Bakery of Dehradun.

If you have ever been to Dehradun, then you know that Ellora’s Melting Moments is one of the most famous spots in the city that whips up caramel candies that have sweetened generations! Chef Khanna even shared a video recreating this nostalgic dish that will be served at Bungalow in New York.

Recreating Nostalgic Flavours

And no, Chef Vikas Khanna’s ode to iconic Indian eateries does not end with Stick Jaws. The famous chef has shared that he will be making a series of such desserts at Bungalow to celebrate their flavours. In the caption, he added, “Of course, my food may never taste exactly like the original inspirations—but the emotions do. Through these emotions, we bring legendary institutions back to life.”

Here’s everything that Chef Vikas Khanna will be serving at his restaurant in the next few days –

1. Sohan Halwa, inspired by Ghantewala Halwai from Delhi (1760)
2. Sandesh, just like the one served at Bhim Chandra Nag, Kolkata (1826)
3. Mysore Pak, recreated as the one served at Guru Sweets, Mysore (since the early 1900s)
4. Badam Halwa, inspired by Sri Krishna Sweets from Coimbatore (1948)
5. Kaju Katli, similar to the ones served at Tewari Brothers, Mumbai (1856)
6. Motichoor laddus, inspired by Bansal Sweets in Amritsar (1981)
