Gone are those days when travelling to a new destination meant only exploring tourist attractions, eating good food, and relaxing. Over the years, the concept of travelling has transformed with enthusiasts becoming more interested in unique and thrilling adventures. For the festive season during Diwali, travel operator companies witnessed a significant increase in the total number of bookings regarding such experiential travel experiences.

Scuba diving, hiking, staying in lush forests, and rafting are some of the most famous experiential travel choices. Travellers interested in such journeys have made 20 per cent of bookings for Diwali, according to a report by The Times of India- India Times.

Anuj Pathak is the President of the Travel Agents’ and Tour Operators’ Association of Gujarat. In a conversation with The Times of India, he talked about how tourists wish to witness and experience unique places and extraordinary itineraries. Nowadays, travel is not just about visiting only the famous tourist attractions. Cambodia, Krabi, Phuket, and Vietnam are much in demand.

Travellers Show More Interest For These Unique Holiday Ideas

Customised itineraries to new destinations are a major priority for many globetrotters these days. The interest in exploring offbeat places and adventurous activities has seen a spike as well. People now want to see the glory of nature from as close as possible. Tourists enjoy experiencing the local surroundings and culture. Some experiences that a huge number of travellers wish to enjoy are skydiving, trekking, roaming in cars, and more. The shift in people’s choices to such customised travel itineraries surely signifies how people’s travel preferences are changing as well.

This year is also recording impressive growth for people opting for self-driven cars in their holidays. This brings the scope to visit beautiful places in rental cars and travel according to their choices.

In comparison to last year’s festive season, travel operator companies recorded a spike of 15 per cent in overall bookings for vacation in the year 2023. This increase surely has a positive impact and shows how people’s love and passion for exploring is only rising.
