In the heart of Delhi’s historic Pragati Maidan, a grand stage is being set, both literally and figuratively, to welcome the world’s leaders and diplomats for a monumental event. The impending G20 Summit of 2023, slated to kick off on September 9, is not just a gathering of heads of state; it’s a convergence of ideas, a nexus of diplomacy, and a juncture where global solutions are forged. Here’s all you need to know about the upcoming event:

Dual Agenda – Showcasing Culture and Technology

  • The summit encompasses participation from 19 countries and the European Union. Also, special invitations were extended to nine additional countries and certain international organizations.
  • India has a twofold agenda for the G20 Summit: highlighting its rich culture, crafts, cuisine, and technological advancements. 
  • A dedicated experience panel has been curated to allow delegates to understand the processes behind significant achievements. The UPI system, the development of the CoWin app, and the massive Aadhar identification project that linked a billion people will surely be the primary attractions.

Cultural Showcase

  • A diverse range of dishes is being prepared to offer a glimpse of India’s regional cuisine, including street foods. The cuisine will also promote millet as a nutritious food source. Other grains like ragi and jowar will also be in the limelight.
  • Chaat and curries representing the spirit of Purani Dilli will turn it into a flavourful affair.
  • Regional delicacies like Masala Dosa from South India, Litti Chokha from Bihar, and Rasgulla from Bengal will also find a place on the elaborate menu.
  • The summit aligns with the G20’s “Three C’s” approach – Culture, Commerce, and Connectivity.
  • An emphasis on India’s digital transformation journey will be highlighted through an experience zone. It will showcase the country’s strides in the digital sector, particularly in terms of digital payments and technological advancement.

  • Experience panels will be set up to provide delegates with hands-on exposure to various technological achievements.
  • The development of the CoWin app will also be showcased to show India’s leapfrogging progress in the digital payment sector.
