Being the second most important city in Maharashtra, Nagpur is seen as the focal point for several important meetings and conferences. And one such meeting is being held in this ‘Orange City’ — the C20 Summit. Nagpur is one of the cities where this conference is being held. The Dy. Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis has tweeted about the colourful welcome given to the delegates participating in this summit. 

Warm & Colourful Welcome Of The Delegates

The Dy. Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis has tweeted about the G20 summit happening in the city of Nagpur. And has also posted the pictures of warm and colourful welcome of the delegates participating in the conference. At the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, there were people dressed in traditional Maharashtrian attire — nauvari for women with traditional jewellery and men wore kurta and dhoti with a pheta (turban) tied to the head. The delegates were offered orange juice and santra barfi — two of the specialities of Nagpur.

The women performed ‘aukshan’ and presented them with garland (also known as sut-mala). The delegates were supposed to attend the Civil20 Inception Conference — one of the official engagements of the G20 summit. 

C20 Summit & The Inception Conference

The Civil20 Inception Conference is one of the official engagements of the G20 summit that is being hosted at the Hotel Radisson Blu. The spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi inaugurated the event and will be India Chair. In addition to her, people who will share the dais are Devendra Fadnavis, Kailash Satyarthi, Ahmad Maftuchan, Nivedita Bhide and others. 

The objective of this meeting is to provide a platform for Civil Society Organizations (CSO) to voice people’s aspirations. It offers a forum to reflect on primary and common concerns faced by people, promote social and economic development, protect the agency of this sector and ensure that no one is left behind in the development process. And India being a diverse country is an example of its society-centric approach, self-reliance and sustainability.

The motto of this C20 summit — is ‘You Are The Light’ and the meeting focuses on solving socio-economic matters in the sectors like education, environment, health, technology and sewa (service).
