Why We Celebrate It?

Gudi Padwa holds a special place for every person in Maharashtra. It signifies the arrival of spring and the reaping of the Rabi crop; while for many, it is a symbol of the coronation of Lord Rama after the defeat of Ravana. The gudhi that is hoisted outside the house is believed to ward off evil.
