Recently, data shared by automobile dealers reveal that the surge that usually occurs around this time of the year in the purchase of vehicles is absent. According to the data provided by News18, the automobile industry witnessed a 28 per cent drop in bike purchases.

What is more, the registrations for the purchase of new cars on special occasions dipped by 50 per cent. This means that, in general, the automobile industry not performing as well as it should around holidays.

Experts have opined there is a good reason for such a decline in purchasing of vehicles. According to many experts, the main reason for this dip in vehicle purchases is because of the public transport in Mumbai.

Public Transport The Cause Of Declining Vehicle Purchases

The experts said that Mumbai was already majorly dependent on local trains. This is because not only are local trains very cheap, but also, they are extremely useful for ditching traffic. What is more, Mumbai now also has a robust metro system.

The metro lines that have been completed so far already connect some of the most important parts of the city. The upcoming metro lines will also improve the connection of the city. Since public transport is cheap, budget-friendly, and also time-intensive, it makes for a great travel option.

However, this has led to a downfall in the purchase of motor vehicles. This drop in the purchase of vehicles is also being perceived as a good sign by the officials since it is viewed as a success for the public transport system. It is also very eco-friendly to use public transport rather than private cars.
