The International Air Transport Association or IATA recently released data on global passenger demand for February 2024. The report had a lot of important insight into the increase in passenger traffic in global as well as APAC airlines. It found that there was an increase of 21.5 per cent in the total demand, which is measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres or RPK. Here are all of the other important details that you would need to know from this detailed and insightful report.

APAC Airlines Saw 53.2 Per Cent Growth In Feb 2024: Report

The report showed that all regions except the North American market reported a double-digit growth in passenger traffic. All regions also reported double-digit growth in the passenger market with Asia Pacific or APAC airlines showing a 53.2 per cent year-on-year increase in demand.

As per the press release shared by IATA, European airlines witnessed a 15.9 per cent year-on-year increase in passenger demand with a 16 per cent increase in passenger capacity and a 74.7 per cent load factor.

In addition to this, Middle Eastern Airlines witnessed a 19.7 per cent increase in passenger demand with an 80.8 per cent increase in load factor and a 19.1 per cent increase in passenger capacity.

Other Important Highlights Mentioned In The IATA Report

North American Airlines saw a 17.6 per cent increase in passenger capacity year on year. They witnessed a 77.7 per cent increase in load factor and a 16 per cent increase in passenger demand year on year.

Furthermore, Latin American airlines also saw double-digit growth. In year-on-year passenger capacity, it saw an increase of 18.6 per cent. Additionally, the load factor increased by 84.2 per cent and the increase in demand was 21 per cent.

African airlines also saw substantial growth with an increase in passenger capacity reported to be around 20.7 per cent year on year.
