What’s Inside Michelin-Starred Chef Gaggan Anand’s First Japan Hotel Set In A 200-YO Sake Brewery?

Michelin-starred chef Gaggan Anand, often known as the ‘bad boy’ of Indian fine dining, is celebrated for his bold and creative approach to food. Now, the renowned chef is stepping into the hospitality world with a new hotel project in Japan. Read on to know more!

Chef Gaggan Anand To Open First Hotel In Japan

Gaggan Anand is set to launch his first hotel, called Gaggan Hotel, in Osaka, Japan. As per NDTV, the hotel will be built inside an old and famous place called Daimon Sake Brewery. This brewery is more than 200 years old, and it is still active today. Located between Kyoto and Osaka, the site offers a rich cultural value.

The hotel is expected to open in 2029, however, it is already being seen as one of Japan’s most unique luxury stays in the making. What is moe fascinating is that this project is a collaboration between three experts from different fields. Chef Gaggan Anand is part of it, along with architect Bill Bensley and hospitality expert Jason Friedman. Anand will bring his food and creative ideas, while Bensley will redesign the old brewery into a stylish luxury hotel. The main aim is to keep the 200-year-old building’s original charm while also adding a modern and artistic feel to it.

Inside The Luxurious Hotel

This hotel will feature only 15 suites. Every suite will be around 70 square metres in size. Some rooms will have a loft-style design, while others will offer views of the working sake brewery. Unlike regular hotel stays, Gaggan Hotel will focus on planning before arrival. Guests will be encouraged to choose their meals and activities in advance.

The experience will go far beyond accommodation. Visitors can expect curated dining, sake tastings, wellness programmes, arts and crafts workshops, a spa, an onsen, and even distillery experiences. Also, it will host no more than 30 guests at a time with a minimum stay of two to three nights.
