Good News, Pahalgam To Get 2 Km Long Cable Car On Lines With Gulmarg Gondola

Snow-capped mountains and scenic beauty remind us of the ‘Paradise On Earth’ — Kashmir! And the best way of exploring this region is by gondola or cable cars. Gondolas are aerial shuttles suspended from a cable wire. They are useful in touring Kashmir’s valley and witnessing the gorgeous view. After the success of the Gulmarg gondola, the Cable Car Corporation started a survey in Pahalgam for setting up similar cable cars.

Cable Car Corporation had surveyed Pahalgam and submitted a report for the government’s approval. According to the reports, after Gulmarg, Pahalgam is going to get cable cars! While sharing thoughts about the project, Cable Car Corporation noted that no trees should be removed for this reason and expressed hope for support from the interested parties. The Pahalgam tourist destination in Anantnag is renowned for its breathtaking terrain, high-altitude lakes, mountain routes and so on. This is where the authorities are going to set up the cable cars.

Since they are planning on setting up a gondola lift on the lines with Gulmarg, it was difficult to choose a site. In fact, the authorities had selected four potential sites for the project. The path of this gondola will go ahead from Yatri Niwas to Bai Saran with an aerial length of two kilometres.

For those who aren’t familiar with these places, Yatri Niwas is a property of the J&K Tourism Development Corporation. Bai Saran is a meadow on a hilltop surrounded by snow-clad mountains and pine forests.

Pahalgam, often known as the “valley of shepherds,” is a lovely tourist destination in the Anantnag district of South Kashmir. It is around 90 kilometres away from Srinagar and is surrounded by tall hills and evergreen forests.

The yearly Amarnath Yatra is an event connected to Pahalgam. The Yatra begins in Chandanwari, which is 16 kilometres from Pahalgam. Moreover, it attracts hundreds of thousands of yatris each year between July and August. The town draws 70 per cent of travellers to Kashmir because of its religious importance and function as a campsite.
