On Tuesday, October 31, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be officially flagging off the inaugural run of Gujarat’s Steam Heritage Special Train. He will be using video conferencing to do the same. The train will run between Ekta Nagar and Ahmedabad (Kevadiya). Here’s more information about the key highlights and features of the train, its timing, destinations, and more.

PM Modi To Flag Off Steam Heritage Special Train

On this National Unity Day, which is the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, PM Modi will be paying tribute to him. The launch of this Steam Heritage Special Train will be an honourable tribute to Sardar Patel. T

The Statue of Unity in Gujarat may be reached by rail from the Ekta Nagar railway station, according to the Western Railway. Many visitors from all around the nation who come to see the statue are served by the station. 

In addition, the Steam Heritage Special Train will be an additional feature for the comfort of the travellers, offering them a glimpse into the historical period of steam engines.

Western Railway officials have stated that on November 5, 2023, the Ahmedabad-Ekta Nagar Steam Heritage Special Train (Train No. 09409/09410) will commence its regular run.

Reservations For The Train Are Open

Every Sunday, at 6:10 am, the Ahmedabad-Ekta Nagar train will leave Ahmedabad and arrive at the Ekta Nagar station at 9:50 am that same day. In a similar vein, the Times of India reports that the Ekta Nagar-Ahmedabad Steam Heritage Special Train will leave every Sunday at 8:35 pm and arrive in Ahmedabad at 12:05 am.

All passenger reservation system (PRS) counters and the official IRCTC website are now accepting reservations for the train. Nonetheless, the trains’ Advance Reservation Period (ARP) will last for 30 days. 

A replica of the first steam locomotive ever built in the country, No. F734, is the Steam Heritage Special Train.

Distinct And Special Features

The heritage special train has a distinct and nostalgic appearance. It also has modern interiors and opulent facilities that will make the ride unforgettable for the passengers. There are three air-conditioned executive chair car coaches and a restaurant dining car among the four air-conditioned Vistadome-style coaches. The train’s motor carriage is intended to resemble a steam locomotive.

It features roller blinds on its panoramic windows. It has a 28-person dining car restaurant with air conditioning. The dining car’s interior features a two-seater sofa with padded seats and teak wood dining tables. It has electrically driven equipment and a flameless pantry setup. The train contains modular restrooms made of fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) with branded fixtures.

Its public address and passenger information system (PAPIS) is GPS-based. The configuration of the luggage rack is akin to that of TEJAS Express coaches. The compartment’s sliding doors are electrically and automatically controlled.

The vintage Special-Marwar Express from Jodhpur, Rajasthan’s first vintage train, was launched by Prime Minister Modi earlier this month on October 5. Marwar Junction Railway Station in the Pali district and Kamlighat Railway Station in the Rajsamand district run the historic train of Rajasthan. (CNBC TV 18)
