Who doesn’t know about the iconic lanterns for Halloween made by carving pumpkins? It is said the tradition of doing so began in Ireland, according to a report by St Neots Museum. Previously, people celebrated the spooky event by carving turnips and huge potatoes but soon the tradition changed to using pumpkins. The culture of shifting to pumpkin started after the 1846 potato famine. The folklore is that Jack, a drunk farmer, died and he could not enter heaven or hell due to his miserable activities on Earth. He started wandering on the Earth and later carved a turnip and put a burning piece of coal inside it to make it look like a lantern.

2. Rice Krispie Treats

You can either make these yummy treats or get them at stores at any time of the year but there is something special about enjoying them during the celebration of Halloween. It is a tradition in many families to make batches of these rice krispie treats at this time of the year and share those with children for trick-or-treaters.

3. Halloween Pumpkin Pie

This eerie celebration calls for a table full of delectable delicacies and desserts. One of the most famous foods that is made in most households on this occasion is pumpkin pie. Rich in the goodness and flavours of pumpkins, cinnamon, cranberries, and butter, every bite of this pie simply melts in your mouth. To resemble it with the tradition, you can even add an outer layer with some spooky cuts on it. You will need a list of ingredients and about 2 hours to bake this mouth-watering sweet treat.
