Heading To FIFA? UAE Citizens Can Now Use E-Gates At Airports Across Mexico

UAE citizens travelling to Mexico for FIFA will have their travel a little sorted. The UAE Embassy in Mexico has announced that Emirati travellers can now complete arrival procedures through electronic gates (E-Gates) at selected airports across the country. The new system came into effect on Thursday and is expected to make the arrival process much easier.

UAE Citizens Can Now Use E-Gates At Select Airports In Mexico Ahead Of FIFA

This small change will help people step off a long-haul flight and skip extra queues, which will eventually make a big difference.

Under the updated process, UAE citizens arriving at participating Mexican airports can use electronic gates instead of going through the standard immigration procedure. Once travellers enter the country, they will receive a ticket containing a QR code connected to their Multiple Digital Immigration Form, also known as the FMMD. Visitors are required to keep this document throughout their stay, as it forms part of their immigration record while they are in Mexico.

Football Fans Could Benefit The Most

Mexico is preparing to welcome huge numbers of international visitors for the FIFA World Cup 2026, which it will host alongside the United States and Canada.

Fans of the game are expected to travel to cities and countries around the world to watch the tournament, and faster airport procedures could help with such blocks and improve the overall travel experience.

For Emirati fans planning to attend matches, the change removes one more hurdle from their journey.

Authorities Are Looking To Make Travel Easier

Governments around the world have increasingly turned to digital systems to speed up border procedures, especially at busy international airports.

Instead of relying entirely on traditional immigration desks, electronic gates allow eligible travellers to move through arrivals more efficiently while maintaining security requirements.

That said, travellers should still check entry requirements before flying, as visa rules and documentation requirements remain separate from airport arrival procedures.

Whether someone is travelling for football, business or a holiday, the new process should make arriving in Mexico a little less stressful.
