It’s been two days since heavy rainfall created chaos in Bengaluru, forcing the city to a standstill. The heavy rainfall has led to traffic jams and major water logging in various parts of the city. Seeing the weather conditions, the Regional Meteorological Department issued an orange alert in Bengaluru’s urban and rural districts on October 21, 2024. The Regional Meteorological Department has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall, along with lightning. Furthermore, according to the regional weather observatory’s latest forecast, Bengaluru is expected to experience heavy rainfall in the coming 3 hours.
Effects Of Heavy Rainfall In Bengaluru
Due to this heavy rainfall in the city, the Bengaluru District Collector has announced a holiday for all schools and anganwadis today as a precautionary measure in the interest of the students.
Postgraduate, diploma, engineering, and ITI institutions have not been granted holidays, and college heads are advised to assess the condition of their buildings and avoid using weak or dilapidated ones.
Keeping the current situation in mind, the people of Bengaluru are advised to plan the delays and be cautious while travelling through the city roads. Commuters should keep themselves updated on the weather and traffic alerts. Till now, slow traffic movement has been noted by the city police, primarily because of the severe waterlogging issue.

The India Meteorological Department has also issued a warning about potential electricity disruptions and minor traffic snarls due to heavy rainfall in the affected districts.
Netizens’ Reactions To The Chaotic Rainfall
The people of Bengaluru are grappling with various challenges, such as transportation issues, waterlogging, and a potential lack of electricity. Many people are blaming the government for waterlogging. Here are a few of the reactions from the citizens of Bengaluru.
Rains are not to be blamed for water-logging. This is not an issue of drainage facility as well. It’s the way our roads are not maintained. #BengaluruRains #hennurroads pic.twitter.com/yMDtrlFIdd
