The nordic region is on everyone’s travel list. We agree, a trip to this part of the world turns out to be quite expensive; but what if we told you that we found 18 islands where you can travel to, and it wouldn’t turn out to be that costly either. Introducing: Faroe Islands!

What Is It?

Faroe Islands are geographically located between Iceland and Norway on the North Atlantic Ocean. These 18 volcanic islands are politically a part of Denmark and are self governed. The archipelago has a gorgeous topography that will leave you in awe! The steep cliffs, natural waterfalls, lush green surroundings, quaint and colourful houses, and then there are the sheep; that outnumber the local population.

Picturesque is an understatement. For those of you, you like to capture every aspect of your travel destination, you’ll run out of battery. And those, who like to sit and soak in the view, the surroundings and feel the wind brushing the hair, this is where you need to be. Embark on long walks, treks, or just cycle through the rough patches, cut yourself from technology and live every bit by exploring every aspect of the natural beauty.

How To Get There?

You can take a flight to Tórshavn and from there explore any of the other islands. There are roads, and sea tunnels that connect them but we suggest taking the helicopter ride that costs less than ₹900 (one way). And if you travel between September to March, you might be able to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights as well!

What’s in front of you and the distant view of the scenic beauty is definitely breathtaking. Add to that, the opportunity to have a bird’s eye-view, who would want to miss that right? At that cost? No one! The life on some of the islands might be secluded, which you may or may not like. If you want to have a balance, you can always visit the slightly populated islands stop for a pint at a small pub. However, it still wouldn’t be as crowded as you’d expect it to be.
