According to an article which was recently published by NDTV, Lahaul and Spiti police have urged tourists and locals alike to stay alert during this bad spell of weather. The police urged everyone to steer clear of the steep slopes as they posed a risk.

Steep slopes are especially prone to avalanches when there is heavy snowfall. The bad weather has led to the closure of 107 roads in the Lahaul and Spiti regions and three national highways in addition to two other roads.

These areas – which are relatively isolated as they are located in the high hills – have received light snowfall and intermittent rains during the last 24 hours. As per the official predictions, the state will continue to witness rains today as well.
