The video beautifully shows all the ingredients needed to make kanji at home. It also takes us through the entire process of preparing the drink, starting from the first step to the last. There are only a few steps needed to make this Holi-special drink and it is not all time-consuming as well.

The best part is that even beginners can try their hands on making Kanji this Holi. You can get help from your family members and try preparing glasses of refreshments to celebrate the grand festival of colours.

Here’s How To Make Chef Kunal Kapur’s Special Kanji:

Ingredients: 

  • 1 tbsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 tbsp Yellow Mustard
  • 1/2 tbsp Cumin
  • 1/2 tbsp Salt
  • 1/2 tbsp Black Salt
  • 1 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1½ tbsp Curd
  • 1 litre Water
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 tsp Hing
  • 1 tsp Ghee

Method:

  • To make Kanji at home, start by preparing a mixture of spices. Take a mixer grinder and blend mustard seeds, yellow mustard, and cumin.
  • Once done, transfer the spice mixture to a huge bowl and add black salt, salt, chilli powder, turmeric powder, and curd. Mix everything well to make a fine paste.
  • Next, add water to it and make the liquid.
  • Take a cinnamon stick and place it on a high flame. Heat it till it becomes dark.
  • In the next step, take a small bowl, place it on the freshly prepared liquid, and add the cinnamon stick, hing, and ghee.
  • Once you see the smoke coming out, place a plate on the bowl.
  • Keep it aside for some time.
  • Once done, remove the plate and give a nice stir to the kanji.
  • Transfer to mason jars or glasses and enjoy!
