This year Independence day falls on a Monday which is bringing in a long weekend. The second long weekend comes because of the Krishna Janmashthami falling on a Thursday. People have already made their plans for the perfect getaway making the most of this opportunity. This has not only made working people and their families happy but also the hospitality industry. The demand for hotels and travel has seen a surge.
Big Surge In Demand For Travel And Hotels
Premium accommodations are fully booked, according to businesses like MakeMyTrip, Thomas Cook India, EaseMyTrip, and ixigo. Thomas Cook India, a tour operator, reports a 10% increase in domestic travel demand for the forthcoming Raksha Bandhan-Independence Day long weekend, which takes place between August 11 and August 15. The foreign demand is 15-20% greater for the same period compared to 2019 despite supply and visa restrictions. A mix of leisure travel, staycations, and individuals returning home for the holiday weekend are driving the 100% rise in searches seen by travel agency ixigo. A sharp increase in the demand for both travel and hotels can be seen.

People Do Not Mind Booking A Hotel In Their Hometown
The Independence Day weekend and Krishna Janmashtami, which occurs on August 18, are seeing nearly a house full of guests, according to boutique hotel chain The Postcard Hotels & Resorts, The Roseate, SaffronStays, and Conrad Hotels. Additionally, their room rates have increased. Even while inbound tourism is still weak, Kush Kapoor, CEO of the upmarket Roseate Hotels & Resorts, said that domestic demand has increased dramatically. People now prefer to book a hotel in their hometown for a long weekend instead of travelling by plane or car. For the extended weekend of August 11–15, EaseMyTrip has seen about 40,000 forward travel bookings and about 700 hotel bookings. As there is still time to make reservations for the long weekends, the business anticipates this figure to increase.
