Hyderabad Is The Only Indian City To Win The World Green City 2022 Award

It is a very proud moment for India as Hyderabad successfully beat so many global countries to win the prestigious ‘World Green City Award 2022’ award. Along with this recognition, this South Indian city also won ‘Living Green for Economic Recovery and Inclusive Growth’ in the International Association of Horticulture Producers (AIPH) 2022 World Green City Awards 2022 very recently.

Did You Know Hyderabad Is The Only Indian City Selected For This?

The International Association of Horticulture Producers (AIPH) 2022 World Green City Awards 2022 occurred in South Korea’s Jeju in a gala dinner at the IUCN Leaders Forum on 14 October. As per an official release, Hyderabad is the only city in India to get a selection for such recognition. And the city successfully bagged the category award and also the overall World Green City 2022. It is the best across all the six categories. For this event, AIPH selected cities in six categories and Hyderabad won the awards.

The City Beat These Cities To Win The Award

The city of Nizams won these distinguished awards on Friday. It surpassed global cities such as Bogota, Fortaleza, Montreal, Mexico, and Paris to win the World Green City Award 2022.

KT Rama Rao is the Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development and he tweeted to congratulate Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited on this recognition.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also shared his thoughts on such a marvellous achievement and said that such awards help in enhancing Telangana’s pride and India’s as well.

  • Hyderabad clinched the award for ‘Living Green for Economic Recovery and Inclusive Growth’
  • Bogota won the award for ‘Living Green for Biodiversity’.
  • Fortaleza is the winner of ‘Living Green for Health and Wellbeing’.
  • Montreal is the winner of ‘Living Green for Water’.
  • Mexico bagged the award for ‘Living Green for Climate Change’.
  • Paris won the award for ‘Living Green for Social Cohesion’.
