I Made A Solo Trip To Oman And Here Are The Most Enchanting Places I Explored!

Someone recently told me, “When you are old and weak, all you will have are your memories”. Resuming my solo adventures around the world, my solo trip to Oman made me feel one with myself after quite a long time. The Arab country left me mesmerised with its gleaming waters, rich culture, picturesque landscapes, and natural beauty! The Pearl of Arabia has undoubtedly become my favourite country. I went there with no expectations at all but left with teary eyes. Parting ways with the girl I had become in Oman was not easy for me. Such is the magic of this middle eastern country!

There are countless sand dunes, green ravines filled with palm trees, huge mountain ranges, and emerald-green natural pools in this country. Let’s dive deep into the real Arab experience!

Here Are The Highlights Of My Solo Trip To Oman

1. Dolphin Watching

The Sultanate of Oman is known for its crystal-clear waters that are home to fascinating marine life, especially dolphins. Along with appreciating the beautiful desert terrain, you have to go dolphin watching when in Oman. It is a popular activity and a must-do for sure, as spotting dolphins in their natural habitat is something that will remain in your heart for the rest of your life. I went for this exciting activity in Muscat and was fortunate enough to be surrounded by many dolphins, jumping and swimming in front of the boat.

2. Scuba diving

When you are in Oman, taking a plunge into the cobalt waters is a must. I did my 8th dive at Daymaniyat Island and it was an unforgettable experience. In the turquoise waters of the island, you can spot a wide variety of reef fish, endangered sea turtles, and untouched coral reefs. Along with that, you can encounter moray eels, sting rays, as well as whale sharks in summer, if you are super lucky that is. This gorgeous island is an undiscovered diving paradise owing to warm waters, a multitude of marine life, and pristine dive sites.

3. Wadi Shab

One of the top highlights of Oman, Wadi Shab is a narrow canyon that features crystal clear blue water pools along with a secret waterfall inside a cave! Ranging from hiking to swimming in the freshwater pools, one can enjoy this adventurous journey when in Oman. There are some parts of the refreshing hike through this mountainous region where the water is quite deep and you need to know swimming to cross that. And if you are a bit hesitant, then take a life jacket at the beginning point. Also, wear swimming shoes or sandals as the water has rocks and pebbles. Don’t forget to carry a waterproof mobile case for taking pictures and videos.

4. Bimmah Sinkhole

This naturally occurring sinkhole is like a swimming hole that has dazzling turquoise water. You can reach it via a long concrete staircase and admire its beauty. Don’t forget to dip your feet in the vividly blue-green water and get a fun pedicure by doctor fish! The depths, surrounding, and colours of the sinkhole are simply incredible! Make sure to put Bimmah Sinkhole on the top of your travel bucket list in case you are seeking one of the best natural wonders in Oman.

5. Mutrah Corniche

A promenade stretching for 3 kilometres along the waterfront, Mutrah Corniche in Muscat is lined with restaurants, cafes, and markets. Mutrah Souk and a fish and vegetable market are located near the corniche. The souk is among the oldest marketplaces in the Arab world. Some of the must-buys here include souvenirs like Arab and Indian artefacts, frankincense, Bedouin jewellery, clothes, gold, etc. It is a popular tourist attraction in the country and stretches along the harbour. Comprising serene gardens, lovely fountains, beautiful figures and sculptures, the pristine corniche offers splendid views of the city and the sea.
