In A Bid To Establish Agra Safe For Women Tourists And Boost Tourism, Mission Shakti Plans March

With the news of women and girls being raped, harassed, and troubled every single day, especially solo female travellers, the safety of women in the country has become the biggest question. Keeping this question in mind, ‘Mission Shakti’ and an ongoing campaign by the tourism police, ‘Operation Delight’, a march will be organised tomorrow in Agra. This is in a bid to establish the city as a safe place for female tourists.

March To Be Conducted In Agra

A march will be organised by the Taj Security Police and the Tourism Police Station. It will be supported by various non-government and government organisations. The event is being organised under ‘Mission Shakti’ and ‘Operation Delight’.

This Friday morning march is to spread the message of providing women with a very safe environment. This is to ensure the safety of all the tourists, especially women tourists who travel alone and decide to come to Agra.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police (Taj Security) said that they have given a call to all the women who are in some way or another associated with the tourism trade. The call was given to ask them to join others in ensuring a safe environment for all the women tourists in the city.

Taj Mahal remains on weekly closure on Friday, and hence the day is selected for the march. This march will begin from the selfie point at Fatehabad Road, known as ‘I Love Agra’. It will end in the east of Taj Mahal at Dussehra Ghat.
