And now that, Bengaluru has been receiving incessant rainfall, this weather change will likely lead to people suffering from diseases. While the city is enjoying pleasant weather with an average temperature of 28°C, the risk of falling sick is worrisome.

Residents have continued to face several challenges ever since the Karnataka capital started to receive heavy rainfall in most parts. From waterlogging in areas to traffic congestion on roads, rains have already created chaotic situations. Unfortunately, the problems don’t end here. Stagnant rainwater, stored in corners of the city have turned into mosquito breeding areas.

This concerns everyone as dengue cases are already on the rise in Bengaluru this year. With dirty stagnant water all around, there are chances that people with low immunity may get affected by dengue, malaria, infections, and more. From the change in weather conditions to contaminated water, all these inconveniences can lead to cholera, skin concerns, typhoid, fever, cough and cold, fungal infections, and more.

These are common diseases faced by many during the monsoon season. This year, try to notice the symptoms and consult a doctor as soon as possible. These are some of the most common symptoms: sore throat, fever, body ache, nausea, cough and cold, and incessant sneezing.

With the onset of monsoon season, we come across news and reports about residents facing illness. The sudden drop in temperature and several other factors lead to mosquito-borne diseases, infections, and more. It is a crucial time to take care of ourselves and our family members, especially kids and elders. It’s important to stay fit and not become susceptible to health issues. Follow these steps:

  • The first and foremost step to stay healthy not only during the monsoon season but throughout the year is to add healthy food items to your diet and exercise regularly. This helps us improve our immunity.
  • If possible, do not let water get stored near your house. It can lead to mosquito-borne diseases. To save yourself from mosquito bites, keep doors and windows closed at home when not required. You can wear full-sleeved clothes while stepping outside.
  • If you do not have access to a water purifier at home, try to boil water before drinking. Water contamination is a common issue at this time of the year.
  • It is advisable to avoid street food during the monsoon season.
  • Eat homemade and fresh food every day.
  • Another simple tip is to avoid visiting crowded places. Viral infections can spread quite easily among lots of people.
  • Wash your hands with soap or handwash frequently.
