India Boosting Sustainable Travel By Launching Eco Resorts For Tourists

With great power comes great responsibility and India totally understands it when it comes to Tourism in the Country! According to the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) latest study, India ranks 54th place in the global Travel and Tourism Development Index. And that is a pretty high global rank! So India is doing everything in its power to stay responsible while boosting tourism in the Country. Ecotourism and eco resorts in India are slowly gaining the limelight. Numerous eco-resorts are being launched across the Country to conserve its rich natural heritage. Demand for Sustainable Travel Has Risen Significantly In India In The Last 5 Years

India ranked 54th in the global Travel and Tourism Development Index 2022, and since then the country’s sustainable tourism sector has seen a significant boost. With more eco resorts coming up in almost every state, India is totally aiming to cater to the demands of the tourists. According to a report by Deccan Herald, director Aly Rashid of the Jehan Numa Wilderness, which runs the quaint Reni Pani Jungle Lodge near the Satpura National Park and Tiger Reserve, revealed that the demand for sustainable travel has risen significantly in India in the last five years.
“We’ve reforested the land on which Reni Pani stands, and it is now a thriving wildlife corridor. We’ve revived the land around Bori Safari for smaller species of birds, and we’ve started a butterfly garden too. We encourage non-motorized safaris on foot, canoes, and cycling, and 80-90 percent of our staff come from local communities,” added Rashid.

The Experience At An Eco Resort Is Certainly Better And Healthier

If you wonder why India is so into launching new eco resorts then Malayanil Singh, Senior Vice President of Trail Blazer Tours, Mumbai has an apt answer for that. The recent Deccan Herald report reveals her mentioning that the experience at a genuine eco-friendly property is certainly better and healthier. “Food is made with locally available produce, and the trained staff hired from the local community takes genuine pride in showcasing their area to tourists,” she also added.
Talking about the eco resort Spice Village-CGH Earth in Kerala, Michael Dominic, CEO, CGH Earth Experience Hotels revealed to Deccan Herald that they have seen a clear shift in what the traveller wants, especially the younger generation.
And looks like Spice Village is totally living up to the expectations of the tourists with its native Mannan tribe village model amidst the Thekkady environment and the Periyar forest.
