A selfie point in Uri, Kashmir has become the latest tourist attraction in the area. Ever since Kaman Setu opened the LoC area for tourists last year, Uri has been quite popular among tourists. Now, around Republic Day this year, a selfie point was opened in the area and it has quickly become a crowd favourite. This selfie point boasts flags in tri-colour and has ‘INDIA’ slept out in a massive installation. It is located, strategically, along National Highway-44. The tourists stop by to click pictures here and capture the raw beauty of the Jhelum River and Uri.

Called the India Selfie Point, the officials believe this installation instils a sense of nationalism in the region. The idea behind this selfie point was conceptualised by artist and RNAF founder Rouble Nagi. It is placed in a way that people can stop by to click pictures with snow-capped mountains and Jhelum River in the background, along with the installation.

In August last year, the Indian Army decided to open Kaman Setu to the tourists. This area in Uri is zero-point at the LoC. In order to attract tourists, the Department of Tourism along with the Jammu and Kashmir government sought the Army’s permission to open it for the general public. Since then, many tourist destinations along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir have evolved into tourist hotspots.
