India To Overtake China As The World’s Most Populated Country By 2023

It’s a nightmare to imagine being a citizen of the World’s most populated country. Population explosion always leads to low Per Capita Income. So surviving in the most populated country is equal to leading a low-quality life with little to no Unemployment opportunities. And it’s scary to imagine India going through it all. Yes, you heard it right! A report by the United Nations on Monday revealed how India would be the World’s most populated country by 2023, surpassing China. Read on to know more about the tidbits of the report.

The Rate Of Population Growth In India Is Much Higher Than China At The Moment

A Technical committee by the National Commission on Population too projected India’s population before the UN report. The former projected an increase from 1.21 billion in 2011 to 1.52 billion in 2026. This calculates for a jump of 25.7 percent in 25 years at a rate of one percent annually. The World Population Prospects 2022 report by the UN on Monday is seen exceeding the 2020 report by the Technical Committee. And that truly is scary!
“It is not surprising since the rate of population growth in India is much higher than in China at the moment.” Amitabh Kundu, a member of NCP, reveals.

People’s Productivity Will Have To Increase To Support Larger Numbers

India becoming the World’s most populated country will have severe implications on its economic development. The bigger a country’s population, the more the number of people it has to support. With so much happening, it’s time for the citizens of India to really take some time and think of their future. The government too needs to come up with better policies to maintain a balance between every gender in the workplace. An increase in population demands a lot from the Country’s government. Former chief statistician Pronab Sen believes that India will now require policies to increase jobs. “This means that people’s productivity will have to increase for any given per capita income,” Sen reveals to Business Standard.
Well, let’s hope India comes up with the right policies to tackle the increase in population by 2023!
