During the latest Sunday Brunch with Kamiya Jani, Jasmin Bhasin gave viewers a peek into the home she shares with Aly Goni. Between a sweet potato chaat and a full-blown Middle Eastern food trail, the conversation wandered into the kind of relationship detail that makes you look around your own house and wonder whether you, too, need a little architectural intervention.
Why Jasmin Bhasin And Aly Goni Have Separate Spaces
Kamiya Jani, our Editor-in-Chief, brought up the theory that perhaps the secret to a happy relationship is having separate rooms and bathrooms. Jasmin Bhasin did not need a TED Talk to answer. She simply pointed in two different directions and said, in essence, this is my side, and that is his side.

The arrangement, though, is not some elaborate relationship hack that one of them imposed on the other. When Kamiya Jani asked whose idea it was, Jasmin Bhasin explained that it was a decision they made together.
They both have busy and unpredictable schedules. One may have an early-morning call while the other is working late. Sometimes you want to talk, eat together and spend the evening with your person. Sometimes you want to shut the door, disappear into your own little bubble and not have to explain why.

For Jasmin Bhasin, personal space is part of making their shared home work. She also said that both she and Aly are happy with the arrangement.
It makes sense. Living together does not mean becoming a two-person single organism with matching calendars.
And perhaps that is the more interesting bit about Jasmin and Aly’s setup. The separate sides are not about keeping each other apart. They seem to be about making room for two individual lives inside one shared home.
After all, a happy relationship may not require doing absolutely everything together. Sometimes, it just requires knowing which side is yours.
