If there were ever a celebrity episode that collectively convinced the internet that “perfect husband material” still exists, it was probably Rajeev Khandelwal’s appearance on Sunday Brunch with Kamiya Jani. Calm, thoughtful, effortlessly charming, and surprisingly skilled in the kitchen, Rajeev gave viewers a glimpse into a side of him that felt oh-so-real and charming. Be it cooking with precision or speaking about family with so much sincerity, every moment added to the image of someone who understands that care often lies in the smallest gestures.
Rajeev Khandelwal Cooks Yummy Butternut Squash!
Rajeev Khandelwal spoke about how the name oh his home, Jannat, came from a dream he had years ago while watching Shah Rukh Khan build Mannat. Back then, he had imagined owning a home that would feel just as personal and full of emotion. Somewhere along the way, that dream became real in Mumbai.
The kitchen segment ended up saying far more about him than any formal interview could have. He decided to make butternut squash and rotis, and there was something very calming about watching how seriously he took the process. The butternut squash had been grown at home, so he casually mentioned that he prefers not peeling it.
Outside produce, he admitted, is different. That can be peeled if needed. He sliced the squash into round pieces, placed them onto a pan with homemade oil, and kept the seasoning minimal with pepper, pink salt and sea salt.
Then came the rotis!

Opens Up About Why He Learned Cooking
Without struggling or laughing it off like many celebrities do on camera, Rajeev rolled out an almost perfectly round roti in one go. Kamiya looked genuinely stunned, and honestly, so would most people watching. But what stayed with the audience was the reason he learned cooking in the first place.
He spoke about his mother.
About how mothers in so many Indian homes spend their entire time feeding everyone else first, only to sit down much later with cold rotis on their own plates. He did not narrate it dramatically. In fact, he said it very simply, which somehow made it hit harder. He wanted his mother to eat hot rotis too. So he learned!
That small anecdote completely changed the mood of the segment. Suddenly, this was no longer about an actor cooking brunch. It became about care that often goes unnoticed inside homes. Rajeev Khandelwal also touched upon how men are rarely expected to cook and how he never agreed with that thinking.
Watching him move around the kitchen so naturally, without treating domestic work like a novelty, felt oh-so-refreshing.
