Police Exposes IPL Ticket Scam At Bengaluru Stadium

In a recent operation, Bengaluru Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested a canteen worker from M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. According to NDTV, the accused, Chandrashekhar, worked at Sri Lakshmi Canteen inside the stadium and was caught while allegedly selling IPL tickets illegally in bulk.

Police say he was involved in reselling more than 180 IPL tickets in the black market. These tickets were being sold at very high prices, between ₹15,000 and ₹19,000 each. Most of them were for the RCB vs Lucknow Super Giants match held on April 15.

The police received information that large numbers of tickets were being bought and resale instead of reaching real fans. It was found that the tickets were originally booked through the online platform Ticketgenie.

More About The Ticket Scam

Shockingly, these bookings were not made in individual names but under company names. As per NDTV, for example, tickets were purchased under Swastik Heavy Engineering and Industrial Automation Consultant Company, and another 50 tickets were booked under Dharani Computers Company.

Police also found that this wasn’t a one-time case. During a match on March 28, 2026 (RCB vs CSK), around 81 tickets worth nearly ₹6.6 lakh were booked under the same company name. These tickets were later sold illegally.

Overall, the investigation shows that 181 tickets were linked to this entire racket, across different price ranges. The total value of these tickets is estimated at about ₹17.52 lakh, all booked through Ticketgenie and then pushed into the black market.

During questioning, Chandrashekhar allegedly told police that a KSCA member, Ganesh Pareekshit, supplied him the tickets and asked him to sell them at higher prices. However, Pareekshit is currently absconding and police are searching for him.

Authorities have also booked several private company directors, who are suspected of helping in the bulk booking and illegal resale of tickets. The investigation is still ongoing.
