Recently, on the occasion of Bhai Dooj, a celebrity chef decided to cook for his sister and prepared Dal Moradabadi Chaat for her. And honestly, it looks too tempting to ignore!

Celebrity Chef Saransh Goila (@saranshgoila) is known for sharing amazing recipes online. This Bhai Dooj, instead of giving a material gift to his sister, he decided to cook something special—Dal Moradabadi Chaat. The name itself is enough to make your mouth water, and we definitely can’t wait to try it at home.

The chef posted the video with the caption: “A Bhai Dooj special for my sistaaa, who ain’t getting any gifts today but a meal cooked by her brother.” He also revealed that many families in Moradabad, UP, have their own versions, with some adding crispy moong and chillies. For his version, he kept it a little snacky and perfect for dipping.

Here’s How You Can Make It This Bhai Dooj

Ingredients

  • Moong dal
  • Water
  • Hing
  • Salt
  • Roasted jeera
  • Dried red chillies
  • Leftover roti
  • Ghee
  • Podi
  • Butter
  • Green chutney
  • Onion
  • Tomato
  • Pomegranate seeds
  • Meethi boondi
  • Coriander
  • Jeera-mirchi masala
  •  Lemon juice

Method

1. Pressure cook the soaked moong dal with hing and salt until soft.
2. Whisk the cooked dal until smooth, then pour it into a kadhai and cook on a low flame for 10 minutes.
3. Crush the roasted jeera and dried red chillies together.
4. Take the leftover roti, spread some ghee, and cook on a low flame until slightly crispy. Sprinkle podi and cook with a little more ghee on both sides.
5. To serve the dish, crack the crispy roti, add butter, pour in the dal, and top with green chutney, chopped onion, tomato, pomegranate seeds, meethi boondi, coriander, jeera-mirchi masala, and a squeeze of lemon juice.
