For millions celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi this year, the festive grocery list looks a little different. Milk continues to dominate shopping baskets, but chocolates, dosa batters, chutneys and even ice cubes are quietly edging their way into the celebration menus, according to data from cold chain major ColdStar Logistics.
Ganesh Chaturthi 2025: The Eating Trends
In just six days, the company moved an impressive 2,359 tonnes of milk, 404 tonnes of chocolates, 143 tonnes of batters and chutneys and 46 tonnes of ice across its network. While milk accounted for nearly 70% of these volumes, the surprise story of the season was the sharp rise in demand for ready-to-cook staples such as millet, ragi and chilla batters, alongside packaged chutneys.
“Festivities are a time of excesses and rightly so,” said Sameer Varma, Executive Director at ColdStar Logistics, with a hint of pride. “This is when cold chain companies like ours step in, prepping our facilities well in advance so that what reaches the consumer is fresh, on time and in full.”
Among indulgences, chocolates have clearly carved out a space on Ganpati tables. ColdStar’s data shows a 3:1 tilt towards milk chocolate over dark, signalling a preference for sweeter treats to pair with traditional mithai. Paneer and curd, long-standing Ganesh Chaturthi staples, continued to hold strong.

ColdStar Takes The Charge
The logistical dance behind this smooth supply is less visible to consumers. ColdStar says it redesigned its processes to handle three times its usual load, added manpower and vehicles, and leaned on its AI-driven planning tools to anticipate impulse buys. Real-time monitoring of trucks ensured temperature consistency, so that whether it was paneer or premium chocolate, products reached shelves exactly as promised.
A central piece of that promise is the company’s “Zero Stock-Out” pledge. “We make sure shelves never run dry at the peak of festivities,” Sameer Varma said. “It’s about keeping the spirit of Ganesh Chaturthi hassle-free; people should be busy celebrating, not hunting for milk or batter.”
Founded in 2011 by Tuscan Ventures, ColdStar has grown into one of India’s most influential players in the cold chain sector. With 23 distribution centres spread across 200+ cities, its network covers more than 7,000 pin codes. Each month, it delivers 1.2 million units with a claimed 99.9% fill rate, powered by AI/ML tools that map consumer buying behaviour across food, retail and healthcare.
If the numbers from this week are anything to go by, Ganesh Chaturthi in 2025 tells its own story: tradition is still in the news, but it now comes wrapped in convenience and, more often than not, a bar of milk chocolate.
