Exclusive: Bageshwar Baba Reveals If Gurus Can Predict The Future

For years, devotees have flocked to Bageshwar Dham hoping for answers that, they believe, no one else can give. Its head priest, Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, better known as Bageshwar Baba, has built a massive following because many believe he possesses the rare ability to know things about people’s lives without being told. Naturally, when he sat down with Kamiya Jani on the latest episode of Sunday Brunch, that question couldn’t be avoided. The biggest surprise, however, was his answer to the one question that has defined his public image for years. Does he really predict the future?

Bageshwar Baba Reveals If He Can Really Predict The Future

His response wasn’t the emphatic “yes” many would expect.

Bageshwar Baba admitted that he himself cannot explain how these experiences happen. Whatever people see in him, he believes, is not a personal power that he has mastered. Instead, he attributes it entirely to the blessings of his gurus and the grace of God. “Yeh mere guruon ki kripa hai,” he explained, insisting that he never claims ownership over something he considers divine.

He went on to describe something that, according to him, happens repeatedly. People return after months or even years and tell him that events unfolded the way he had indicated. They remind him of conversations he barely remembers, narrate incidents that matched his words, and thank him for guidance that eventually proved true. Listening to them, he says, is often how he himself realises what people believe this gift to be. 

“Hum bhavishya batane ki baat nahi karte, bhavishya banane ki baat karte hain,” he reveals. 

With that one sentence, Bageshwar Baba separated prediction and purpose. He explained that his intention is never to declare an irreversible future. At best, he offers a direction, a possibility, a path that a person may choose to follow.

The Childhood Experiences That Left Him Confused

Kamiya Jani, our Editor-in-Chief, then asked when he first realised something about him was different.

His answer went back to his school days. As a student, he says he would suddenly know which teacher was about to walk into the classroom, which subject would be taught that day, or even which student would be asked to answer a question. At that age, these moments didn’t make him feel special; they made him uncomfortable. He couldn’t understand why such thoughts entered his mind when the children around him experienced nothing similar. Instead of treating them as a blessing, he spent years wondering why they happened at all.

With time, that confusion slowly transformed into conviction. Even after all these years, though, he refuses to label it as the power to predict the future. In fact, he challenged the very idea. If he, or any guru, for that matter, could truly see every event before it happened, then the world would look very different today. There would be fewer tragedies, fewer mistakes and perhaps a far more developed society. That, he said, is precisely why he avoids making such claims.

For Bageshwar Baba, the conversation isn’t about foretelling destiny. It is about helping people shape it. And perhaps that is the most revealing confession of all, not because it confirms what his followers believe, but because it questions the very label that made him famous in the first place.
