Free KSRTC Bus Travel For Women In Kerala
In Kerala, the new UDF government, led by Chief Minister V D Satheesan, is now strongly focusing on welfare. As per Telangana Today, at its first Cabinet meeting held on Monday, May 18, the government announced several decisions supporting women, elderly citizens, and frontline workers.
One of the highlights of the recent decisions is free travel for women in KSRTC buses. The scheme will begin on June 15, and the government will release detailed guidelines soon. This move is expected to benefit daily commuters across the state and reduce travel costs for women.

What Are The Other Decisions?
In the meeting, the Cabinet also decided to increase the monthly payments of the welfare workers. Telangana Today reported that ASHA workers will now get an extra ₹3,000 per month after their long protest demanding better pay. Other workers like Anganwadi staff, helpers, school cooking staff, pre-primary teachers, and ayahs will also get an additional ₹1,000 per month. This move is to appreciate their work and provide better financial support.
The government has decided to set up a separate department for senior citizens in the state. The Chief Minister said this could be the first department of its kind in India. Kerala aims to become a model of how a state should treat and care for senior citizens.
