Across the world, there are many countries, and each one has its own currency. What fascinates us is how some countries have turned their currency notes into works of art with unique designs and beautiful details. In this article, we have listed some of the most beautiful currency notes from around the world.

1. Maldives- Rf1,000

The Maldives’ 1,000 Rufiyaa note stands out for its beautiful ocean-inspired design featuring a whale shark, manta rays, and a sea turtle. Made from durable polymer, the note is also waterproof, making it both visually stunning and practical.

We are totally in awe and would like to keep at least one note with us for a lifetime. 

2. Mexico- MXN $500

The Mexican 500-peso note is admired for its stunning design and was nominated for the International Bank Note Society’s Bank Note of the Year Award in 2018. The front features Benito Juárez, Mexico’s first Indigenous president, while the opposite showcases grey whales in the Biosphere Reserve of El Vizcaíno.

3. India- ₹50

India’s ₹50 note is often admired for its eye-catching fluorescent blue colour and unique design. One side of this note features the famous Stone Chariot of the Vijaya Vittala Temple in Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Karnataka. The note beautifully showcases India’s rich history and architecture.

4. Brazil- R$50

Another one of our favourite currency notes is Brazil’s R$50. This note is admired for its wildlife-themed design. The front features the Effigy of the Republic, a symbol of the nation, while the back showcases a beautifully detailed jaguar.

5. Argentina- AR$100

Argentina’s 100-peso note stands out from the other currencies in the world. It’s because most famous versions featured Eva Perón, making her the first woman to appear on an Argentine banknote. Also, Argentina’s 1,000-peso note was nominated for the International Bank Note Society’s prestigious Bank Note of the Year award in 2017 for its impressive design.

6. Switzerland- CHF10

The 10-franc Swiss note has a unique design and bright yellow colour. It features the theme of Switzerland’s timekeeping, featuring a conductor’s baton and a railway clock. The award-winning note also includes advanced security features, such as microtext and a shimmering globe, making it both beautiful and innovative.

7. Australia- $50

Australia’s $50 banknote has a vibrant yellow-gold design and looks truly beautiful. It features Aboriginal inventor David Unaipon, politician Edith Cowan, native wildlife, and cultural motifs. Made from polymer, the note is completely waterproof and includes advanced security features.

8. Uganda- USh50,000

If you love keep curreny notes as souvenirs, Uganda’s 50,000 Shilling note will definitely catch your eye. The note features the Stride Monument and the lush Bwindi Impenetrable Forest on the front, while a majestic Silverback Mountain Gorilla appears on the back. No wonder it was named Africa’s most beautiful currency and ranked among the world’s best-looking banknotes. 

9. Canada- C$10

Canada’s $10 note is hard to miss with its striking purple colour and unique design. It features civil rights activist Viola Desmond and was named the International Bank Note Society’s Bank Note of the Year.

10. Honduras- L200

Honduras’ 200-Lempira commemorative note is admired for its colourful and meaningful design. Issued in honour of environmental activist Bertha Cáceres, it is the first Honduran banknote to feature a woman. The note uses vibrant shades of blue, green, and orange, while also showcasing beautiful views of La Esperanza and the Gualcarque River.

11. New Zealand- NZ$5

New Zealand’s NZ$5 note is often considered one of the world’s most beautiful banknotes and even won the International Bank Note Society’s Banknote of the Year award. The colourful note features mountaineer Sir Edmund Hillary and Mount Cook on the front, while the back showcases a yellow-eyed penguin and stunning island landscapes.

12. Cook Islands- NZ$3

Lastly, for one of the most beautiful notes in the world, we have the Cook Islands’ $3 note. Its colourful design features Ina riding a shark from a famous Polynesian legend on the front, while the back showcases a traditional fishing canoe and the sea god Tangaroa.
