Visakhapatnam, popularly known as Vizag, is known for its scenic beaches and long coastline. However, one of its lesser-discussed stretches has caught the attention of industrialist Anand Mahindra. On October 25, the Mahindra Group chairman shared photographs of Gangavaram Beach on his official X account and praised its rugged natural landscape. Scroll down to know more.

Anand Mahindra Sees Potential In Vizag Beyond Its Beaches

Unlike the palm-lined shores often associated with tropical destinations, Gangavaram Beach is known for its rocky terrain and dramatic cliffs. The landscape offers a different perspective on Vizag’s coastline, with its striking rock formations and raw, untamed appearance. Sharing his thoughts on the beach, Mahindra wrote, “Not the conventional image of a tropical beach. No rows of swaying coconut palms or picture-postcard scenery.” Instead, he said he was drawn to its “rugged, almost prehistoric beauty”. He added that he found this kind of raw landscape even more compelling, describing it as a place that encourages reflection rather than simply offering a spot to unwind.

His post has brought attention to a different side of Visakhapatnam’s coastal appeal, beyond the beaches more commonly featured in travel photographs. Anand Mahindra’s post also touched upon Visakhapatnam’s growing ambitions in the technology sector. Drawing a comparison between the city’s natural landscape and its development prospects, he remarked, “But judging by these photographs, nature got into the hyperscaling business here millions of years ago!”

He noted that Vizag is on its way to becoming a major technology hub, while suggesting that the city also has the potential to emerge as one of India’s most sought-after coastal leisure destinations.

His observations point to the possibility of Visakhapatnam building on both its economic growth and natural attractions. While the city continues to develop its technology ambitions, its coastline could offer another reason for travellers to visit and explore the region.

How Did Social Media React To It?

Anand Mahindra‘s post drew responses from social media users, including people who praised the beach’s distinctive landscape and its appeal as a relatively lesser-known destination.

One user wrote, “So true! Gangavaram is a hidden gem. That rugged beauty is what makes Vizag so unique.”

Another commented on the city’s infrastructure, saying, “It’s indeed a beautiful city. We hope metro will be introduced to ease the traffic.”

A third user thanked Mahindra for showcasing the coastline, writing, “Thank you @anandmahindra sir for showcasing the raw, dramatic beauty of my hometown, Vizag!”
