While rain and gusty winds on Saturday brought much-needed relief to Delhi-NCR, much of North India continues to grapple with intense heat. Coupled with the ongoing summer vacation season, this has prompted a surge of travellers heading to cooler hill stations in Himachal Pradesh, leading to heavy tourist rush and severe traffic congestion in popular districts such as Kullu and Shimla. Here’s everything you need to know.

Kullu Seese Heavy Tourist Inflow, Traffic Congestion

With temperatures soaring across North India, it seems the mountains are calling as thousands of travellers are making a beeline for Himachal Pradesh. According to Hindustan Times, tourist footfall in Kullu district has witnessed a sharp spike over the past few days, with nearly 25,000 to 27,000 small and large vehicles entering the district.

To manage the heavy inflow, the Kullu police have deployed 60-70 personnel in Manali. While the district has been witnessing severe traffic congestion and massive tourist rush, officials have said that the situation has remained largely peaceful. Additionally, around 150 police personnel and home guards have been stationed across key areas to regulate traffic and maintain order.

Visuals circulating on social media show long queues of vehicles stretching across major roads, with traffic crawling for several kilometres, causing significant inconvenience to both tourists and local residents.
