Miyazaki Mango Ayodhya

Japan’s Miyazaki mango, also known as Taiyo-no-Tamago or the ‘Egg of the Sun’, is the most expensive mango in the world. With its striking ruby-red colour, fibre-less texture, and exceptionally sweet taste, it has earned a name for itself across the globe. Today, farmers in several countries cultivate this variety. Recently, a farmer from Ayodhya successfully grew the expensive mango and, as a gesture of gratitude, offered one from his first harvest to Ram Lalla at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Japanese Miyazaki Mango Offered To Lord Ram In Ayodhya

According to The Times of India, the Miyazaki mangoes are valued between ₹2.5 lakh and ₹3 lakh per kilogram in the international market. In fact, a single piece of this variety can cost about ₹1 lakh and that’s why it is known as the most expensive mango in the world! Recently, one such prized mango found a divine destination at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, and it didn’t come from Japan but was actually grown locally!

Cultivated by farmer Omprakash Singh, the ripe Miyazaki mango was offered to Lord Ram along with a Tulsi (holy basil) leaf. The gesture follows the age-old tradition of dedicating the season’s first harvest to the deity as an expression of gratitude and devotion. Some devotees also remarked that the mango’s radiant, sun-like hue beautifully complemented the divine aura of the temple.

World’s Most Expensive Mango In Ayodhya

Omprakash Singh planted the Miyazaki mango tree in his orchard around two years ago to test whether the rare Japanese variety could thrive in Ayodhya’s climate. His patience finally paid off this year when the tree bore fruit.

Speaking to the media, Singh said that Miyazaki mangoes are sweeter than most other varieties and are rich in fibre, vitamins, and nutrients. The tree has produced around a dozen fruits, each weighing between 150 and 300 grams.

Apart from Miyazaki mangoes, the Ayodhya farmer also cultivates Thailand’s ‘Banana Mango’, Australia’s ‘R2E2’, and popular Indian varieties such as ‘Chaunsa’ and ‘Dasheri’ in his orchard.
