A few hours ago, SpiceJet took to social media to share a travel advisory. In the advisory, the airline wrote, “Due to bad weather in Kochi (COK), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights might be affected. Passengers are requested to check their flight status.”
However, Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) disputed the claim. In a post on X, the airport said there were no adverse weather conditions in Kochi that could have caused the disruption. It also described SpiceJet’s communication about the weather as “misinformation.” The airport further pointed out that no other airline had reported cancellations from Kochi during the same period.

SpiceJet has been facing operational challenges for quite some time. The airline recorded a cancellation rate of 8.58% in July, raising further concerns about its flight operations. In its statement, Cochin Airport also said it had been receiving continuous complaints from passengers about SpiceJet’s flight operations.
Despite the growing number of complaints, the airport said it was doing its best to support affected passengers and provide them with the necessary guidance. CIAL also advised SpiceJet passengers to check the latest flight updates with the airline before leaving home.
Hopefully, SpiceJet addresses these operational concerns soon!
