Gir National Park, the only home to the majestic Asiatic lions in the world, is all set to introduce a unique wildlife train safari. The first-of-its-kind safari will offer passengers a 360° view of the jungle while feasting on authentic Gujarati cuisine. Here is everything you need to know about this much-anticipated lion safari project.

Lion Safari Train Coming Soon At Gir National Park

Dreaming of going on a Masai Mara safari but can’t make a plan? Gujarat is all set to bring a similar experience in India. Authorities are planning to introduce a unique train safari experience in Gir National Park, the only natural habitat in the world for Asiatic lions.

According to The Times of India, the Bhavnagar railway division has proposed to run the train with air-conditioned coaches called ‘Vistadomes’. These trains will have large glass windows, glass roofs, and rotating seats that will give passengers a 360° view of the wilderness. Reportedly, the plan is being prepared to introduce this lion safari on existing metre gauge routes in the Gir landscape. The initiative is expected to attract many tourists to the park.

Moreover, the plan includes two key routes as part of the safari: Junagadh to Delwada and Talala to Kansiyanes. Both routes pass through areas associated with the Asiatic lion habitat.

Dedicated Lion Safari Corridors And Gujarati Food Onboard

According to The Times of India, railway officials are planning to develop these routes into dedicated lion safari corridors. This will not just promote wildlife tourism but also help preserve the heritage of the park. Moreover, the train will have a pantry car that will serve passengers with local Gujarati cuisine during the journey.

Though the plan is still in its initial stages, once it gets approved and the infrastructure is in place, the safari will be implemented. This train safari will offer an alternative to traditional jeep safaris and may also help reduce congestion inside safari zones. According to us, this is an amazing initiative. Wildlife lovers would be thrilled about this.
