Why Masai Mara Deserves A Spot In Your Travel Bucketlist

Even before Ranveer Allahbadia, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt had set major travel and relationship goals when they got engaged during a trip to the Masai Mara. Their special moment not only captured widespread attention but also inspired many travel enthusiasts to add the stunning Kenyan reserve to their bucket lists.

Now, if you’re feeling inspired to plan your own getaway, here’s a well-balanced 4-5 day itinerary to help you enjoy a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation in the Masai Mara.

How To Reach?

You can take a direct flight from Mumbai or Delhi to Nairobi, which takes around 6-6.5 hours. From there, a short domestic flight of 40-60 minutes will take you to airstrips in the Masai Mara. Alternatively, you can opt for a road transfer, which takes about 5-6 hours and is more comfortable.

Masai Mara Itinerary

Day 1 – Check into your lodge or camp and head out for an evening game drive. If you’re lucky, you may spot lions, elephants, and giraffes. End the day with dinner under the stars.

Day 2 – Set out for an early morning or afternoon safari across the savannah. Enjoy your meals amidst nature and consider a sundowner experience in the wild.

Day 3 – If you’re visiting between July and October, you’re in luck, as you can take a morning drive to witness the Great Migration. Later, visit the Mara River for dramatic crossings and explore a Masai village.

Day 4 – Relax and take it slow. You can enjoy picnics, nature walks, or opt for a hot air balloon safari at sunrise.

Day 5 – Head back to Nairobi for your onward journey.
