Apart from their adrak wali chai, many people are also leaning towards wellness teas, kombuchas and more. Are you one of them, too?

India’s Tea Habits Are Changing According To A New Report

We all grew up watching our parents have their morning cup of tea with breakfast. And as we grew up, we found ourselves in the same place, with a cup of chai in our hands. Yes, adrak chai and masala chai have no competition, but Indians these days are moving out of their comfort zones and trying new and unique blends and tea varieties.

Peach Tea, Kombucha & Wellness Teas Gain Popularity

It is safe to say that India is entering its most experimental tea era yet because tea experimentation is no longer limited to cafes and specialty stores. Among many flavours, Peach Tea emerged as India’s fastest-growing tea flavour, recording more than 62x growth year-on-year. This tea is known for its fruity, floral and gently sweet taste, making it a perfect beverage for summer, especially when served with lots of ice.

Other fast-rising flavours included Blue Pea Tea, Kombucha, Tulsi Tea and Green Tea. The report points to the fact that many tea drinkers are now leaning towards wellness-led flavours. But yes, traditional teas, which still occupy the top five spots, remain at the heart of India’s tea culture.

Now, let’s talk about tea consumption across cities. As per the Instamart report, Bengaluru leads India’s tea obsession, followed by Mumbai and Hyderabad. Cities like Bhubaneswar, Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi are also leading the change and most tea shopping is done online on Sundays, followed by Saturdays and Thursdays.
