On Wednesday, October 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched ‘Mumbai One’, and it became operational for public use from today, October 9. This app is developed by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), and by 8:30 AM on Thursday, it recorded 500 downloads, reported Hindustan Times. With this new app, Mumbaikars can plan their entire journey and book a single QR-based digital ticket usable across Metro, Monorail, suburban trains, and even city buses.
The highlight of this new application is that it’s India’s first integrated common mobility app. Till now, every transport operator has had its own app or platform. But with this system, all major public transport services in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region have now been unified, including the suburban railways, Metro Lines 1, 2A, 3, and 7, Navi Mumbai Metro, Monorail, and bus operators like BEST, TMT, NMMT, KDMT, and MBMT. In short, you can say all travel modes in Mumbai are brought to one place.

How To Use?
If you’re confused about how to use this app, we’ve got you covered. After registering, you can move to the Quick Ticket option to book tickets between city points. It also allows users to plan a journey by adding start and end locations, and it will provide you with route, time, and fare details. To get the best route and reach your destination quickly, the app also shows maps and nearby stations. It even highlights tourist spots and attractions, allowing you to view routes and book tickets instantly.
What Makes This App Special?
Apart from integrating various travel modes in Mumbai at one place, this app also has a multimodal journey planner. According to Hindustan Times, with this, users can choose the fastest and most affordable routes. It even gives real-time updates on route availability and service advisories. This app also has other features like map-based bookings, showing nearby attractions, stations, a city guide, and SOS that shares your live locations.
P.S.: Commuters can’t book ‘season’ or return tickets of suburban trains through the app for now.
The MMRDA has ensured that the app will not charge any extra fees to users. The authority expects the app’s user base to grow rapidly—from 10 lakh to 50 lakh within a year. This moment will mark a new digital era in Mumbai.
