Summer holidays are almost here, and we know you’re excited! Some are heading to their nani’s house, while others are planning fun trekking trips with friends. With train travel in high demand, Indian Railways is adding special trains so you don’t have to compromise on your plans.

Indian Railway Is Adding Special Trains For Summer

During summer vacation, trains get crowded, and waiting lists start growing fast. To make travel easier this season, Central Railway is running 1,484 summer special trains. Out of these, 749 trains will have reserved seating, while 735 will operate as unreserved services. This will help both regular travellers and last-minute planners avoid travel hassles during the busy summer months.

As per NDTV, within Maharashtra, these special trains will cover key routes like Mumbai/Daund-Solapur, Pune-Kolhapur, Nashik Road-Badnera, and Hadapsar-Harangal. For those travelling to other states, trains will run on routes such as Mumbai-Ballia, Mumbai-Gorakhpur, Daund-Kalaburagi, Solapur-Kalaburagi, and Anakapalle.

How Indian Railways Is Using AI?

The full schedule and stoppage details for these summer special trains aren’t out yet, but don’t worry, they’re coming soon. Honestly, I think it’s pretty cool that Indian Railways is now using AI to keep an eye on ticket searches, waiting lists, and passenger demand. According to NDTV, they can spot which routes are going to get crazy busy and add extra trains to make travel smoother. Right now, they’re working off last year’s data, but the system is flexible enough to tweak things if needed. Feels like the railways are finally getting smart about making our summer trips hassle-free.

The Railway Board recently brought back an emergency quota for Vande Bharat sleeper trains and Amrit Bharat services. It had been removed in January, but now a few seats on these premium long-distance trains will be set aside for passengers who need to travel urgently. The railways made this change after checking how many people were travelling, how many berths were available, and what the trains could handle.
