Uttarakhand’s Valley Of Flowers National Park Reopens
The famous Valley of Flowers National Park in Uttarakhand has finally reopened on Monday, May 2. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is located in the Chamoli district. Over the years, it has been many travellers’ favourite because of its colourful alpine flowers. This place will remain open till October 31.
Every year, this park remains open between June and October. But if you want to enjoy this place at its best, you can visit it between mid-July to mid-August. Why? Because during these months, the bloom of flowers is at its peak. At present, the valley is home to over 300 flower species, including several rare plants. One of the rare flowers found here is the Brahmakamal. It grows at high altitudes of around 14,000 feet.

How To Reach This Place?
If you’re planning to visit the Valley of Flowers National Park, you can take a flight to Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. From here, you can travel by road to Govindghat, and then take a 16 km trek to reach the valley. If you’re travelling by train, the nearest major railway station is Rishikesh, which is about 273 km away from Govindghat via NH58.
The trek to the Valley of Flowers National Park is moderately difficult but can become more challenging if you also plan to visit Hemkund Sahib. Many trekkers also stay at Poolna or Pipalkoti as starting points before moving towards Govindghat, which is the main base for the trek.
